Description: Chapter 1 briefly outlines digital computer system terminology, traces the evolution of computer structures, and introduces performance evaluation.
Chapter 2 describes number systems, computer codes, data representation, storage, and transfer concepts.
Chapter 3 covers the analysis and design of combinational logic circuits, along with logic minimization procedures. Popular off-the-shelf integrated circuits (IC) and designing with ICs are introduced in this chapter. Appendix A provides brief descriptions of selected ICs.
Chapter 4 covers the analysis and design of synchronous sequential circuits.
Concepts of registers and register-transfer logic are introduced along with a primitive register-transfer language (RTL).
